  1. I gather the cross members usually end up moving to Blunderbus.

It was long day (10hrs on my knees and bent over) so I was allowed to use the odd expletive.

Only had 3hrs on it today.
Cut out the rear outriggers and jacking point. Removed what was left of the inner sill and inner support sill on the offside. As the rear 2 top hats are rotten we cut through them to remove what we did.

The debris on the floor is about 20% of what has got to come off

And the central heater tube is going to need some work.

And clearly the diverter heater flap was clearly never connected.

It would appear both chassis rails are going to require work.

On a plus side the online tool company sent 10 cup knot wheels by mistake and have let me keep them FoC and provided what I ordered.

I’m hoping I won’t need anymore cutting discs, grinding discs or linishing pads

And these for the Dremel really help on those small hard to get at areas.

For me Sunday is a day off as Ed does t want to upset the neighbours with me grinding. So he’s going to focus on cleaning up the engine bay.

Hopefully on Tuesday we should know what parts to get from Alan H Schofields for a run out to get them.

The issue of colour is soon going to raise its head as Ed liked the colour the van was, my brother likes duck egg blue and I think it should go back to its original colours of cloud white over brilliant orange.

  11. Brother l just wanted to let you know how much l love you. You’re the best brother ever. The van is lacking a lot of metal. If we leave until Tuesday we won’t get there coz of the snow!!:cheers::cheers::cheers:

  12. Take the camper Tim,then if you get snowed in you can sleep in it,just put a draught excluder in.

First of all when did you join the forum, secondly welcome now that you have, thirdly 'creeping' will get you nowhere and fourthly you are forgetting I have this

The plan is to do some work on the van in the morning as I have a couple of appointments in the afternoon so can't go to Glossop tomorrow afternoon. I don't want to go for the parts till I have removed all the bits I believe are beyond repair so I know best what we need to buy (yes I'm spending YOUR money brother ).

And fithly....... stop lurking around and get ya overalls on and get in Eddies garage with us.

After 2 days staying in the warm it was decided. (Decreed by Ed) that work would continue. So the patches on the offside chassis rail were removed

There is sooooo much work to do on this camper.

So the question now is, seeing that a full complete section will not be available till May so I buy new sections that are available and fabricate what I need or do I find some ‘cuts’ from a good chassis from a van that is being broken.

  17. Lots of sections will be weaker than full length...you could go to a fabrication shop and ask them to make up a section in a brake press it would be easy so not to expensive

    Ooooh shiny steel.

New chassis sections, new crossmembers, new inner sills, new inner support sills, new handbrake cable tubes, 3 new top hats, and new outriggers and jacking points. Couldn’t fit the 3m long heater cable tubes in the car so they will have to wait.

Just got to get some box section to brace the chassis before the rotten stuff is cut out.

Also found out that there are no pipes above the totem in the cab so we’ve got to source them. Also got to find replacement parts for the heater pipes that run under the chassis.

    Pieces like this
