  1. SOLD
For sale is my 1973 blue and white bay camper which is a real head turner and comes with plenty of camping kit included to enjoy it more than I have the time to nowadays due to an expanded family. I have owned it since 2008 and the van is in generally good condition throughout, with a new MOT valid until August 2014 and road tax valid until January 2014.
It's not perfect but it's an honest camper and has many more years of fun ahead of it for someone. Mechanically it has a solid 1700 type 4 engine with solex carbs. I have fitted electronic ignition (pertronix) to save from fiddling with points on the 009 distributor. It also has been fitted with an electric fuel pump. Bodywork wise it is really solid, especially underneath, and only has some small areas that will need immediate attention to minimise any spread of rust, as can be seen on the photos (around the base of the windscreen, and at the bottom of the sliding side door). As with many of these vehicles, there is filler present, mainly around the wheel arches which I have done myself and could probably be done better if you have the time (see photos). All in all, it looks really good and nothing needs to be done to enjoy it straight away.

Inside it has Westfalia rear seats with underseat storage, along with two units that were made by the previous owner and which contain a basic sink in one and a two ring gas burner, gas bottle, and eating utensils in the second which are all included in the sale. The two front seats are not original but don't look out of place and are reasonably comfortable, and there is a decent Sony cd player linked to 4 good speakers. I have fitted a power hook up for camping which is linked from a multi socket under the rear seats to a connector which sits in the engine bay. There is a second battery which has seen better days but is good enough to run the cd player and interior camping lights when camping.
The devon pop top is in really good condition with solid bellows material that keeps the rain and wind out. For camping the van will come with a two bike Fiamma rack which fits on the tail gate, and a Royal Traveller Annex awning which has only been used 3 times and is as good as new other than a small tear which has been taped. Also included is a JustKampers cover which was new last year and keeps the rain off, a full JustKampers thermo mat set which keeps the warmth in during cooler nights, and a box of parts I have accumulated.

Due to the family I have driven less than 5000 miles since I have owned it, and following a recent service it is running nicely. The only problem that will need to be looked at is the windscreen washer jets which are electric and have recently stopped working. There are also some quirks as most of these vans have, such as a starter switch under the dashboard as the ignition switch does not fully work, but this has never been a problem for me.
It will be a really shame to see the van go, but it is time for someone else to enjoy it for a few years and spend the time with it that it deserves! I'm based in Basingstoke - please email me on garfieldrichard@hotmail,com if you are interested in a viewing.
