  1. Up for grabs is our 1972 VW T2 camper van “Rosie”, we purchased Rosie last year in October via ebay, Rosie started life in Hungary when she was brought to the UK by the chap we bought her off, she initially was not registered in the UK and as such did not have an MOT, when we got her home we took her for an MOT, and she failed in spectacular fashion, after copious amounts of welding that included some new out riggers and various other patches, new rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders, a new steering box, steering drag links and track rods, new headlights, new rear lights, new seat belts and washer pump she passed her MOT.

With a new MOT we registered Rosie with the DVLA, being a 1972 she is tax exempt and therefore road tax for her is free, as part of the registration process I sent off to the VW factory in Wolfsburg Germany for Rosie’s VW “birth certificate” this is an official certificate that gives Rosie’s exact production date and specification from the factory, Rosie started life as a VW Kombi van this means that she was fitted with rear windows from the factory and as such unlike a lot of campers vans has not been converted from a panel van and have to have had windows put in, what this means in essence is that there is absolutely no rot around her windows or gutters, further more Rosie was fitted with her pop top Westfalia roof at the factory and again this means there is no rot around the roof unlike some UK converted vans.

When we purchased Rosie she was an empty shell in the back and had no interior, as you can see from the pictures we have started to convert her to a camper. She has had a new rock and roll bed fitted, new foam (not yet covered but we have brand new black cloth upholstery material included) 3 point rear seat belts, new floor, new kitchen unit and gas grill and hob, 240 volt electrics fitted with sockets and consumer unit which have been checked by a qualified electrician, there is also a brand new 12 volt leisure battery and charger fitted but not yet connected. A 240 volt mini fridge with ice compartment, I still have a lot of new parts that are not yet fitted and if I get at or about the asking price I will include these are, a split charging system for the leisure battery, a new pop top roof seal kit, a brand new pop top canvas, front cab over bunk, pop top roof bunk, awning skirt, storage nets, new beech table chrome support and mounts, oil temperature gauge and sender, two leather front seats, JK thermal window blinds.

Rosie has had an engine service i.e. new plugs HT leads Distributor cap etc, and a new engine foam heat seal, Rosie will also come with her JK winter cover
We also gave Rosie a bit of a face lift in that she has had head light eyebrows fitted a new VW badge and spot lights and side and rear Jail bars, I have lots and lots of receipts for the money we have spent on Rosie she is nearly finished all the hard work is done and it would not take a lot of work a couple of weekends at the most to get her ready for camping once complete she could easily accommodate 2 adults and two children…even more if you used a drive away awning.(I have one available separately)

As with ALL of these vans there is some bits and bobs that you may wish to do to her to make her perfect, her red paint could do with a very fine wet and dry rub down and polish to make it sparkle and sometimes her clutch judders when pulling away in first gear, her bumpers could do with a re paint but I quite like the “rat look”.
To sum up a nice van with MOT and free road tax that has had £1000’s spent on her that won’t take a lot more to get her perfect. Viewing is welcomed and encouraged, I am open to “sensible” offers, the ONLY reason she is up for sale is because I have started a new business venture, she is located in Tonbridge Kent £7200 …offers considered Thanks for Looking
