I am at a lose and need some help please i Rebuilt engine it started and run Took van out for a spin around the block got home engine stopped and would not restart Thinking its electrical i change coil, points, condensor and plugs Checked timing and tappets Getting spark at plugs Put some petrol down the throat of the carb engine started and run for about 3 mins Then stopped and has not started since Any ideas please
Does sound like a carbs float valve problem, you poured some fuel down into the carbs and the engine runs briefly. You have sparks. You need to find out if fuel is being pumped from the pump outlet, if it is then take the lid off the carb float bowl and see if the bowl has fuel in it. This no start problem crops up on here very regularly. Try doing a search.
This ^ Pour more fuel in the throat and see if it goes each time. If it does, then it has to be a fuel issue
Re fuel Carb filling and fuel being pumped when throttle in pumped Tried more petrol direct into carb
Hi pop top It didn't work I don't get it the dizzy points at no.1 on the firing stroke The plugs work I have petrol
Had this today! Rebuilt engine yesterday on the stand, reset tappets & started- let it cool, checked tappets this morning then no start??? temporary fuel pipe was sucking air!! Bugger to find! best of luck.
Can you turn it by hand? Did you run at 3000 revs to bed the cam in or just take it out for a drive? Are your plugs new and clean and sparking ? And lastly have the valves adjusters come lose? Ie have you re set the lash gap
because you have the essentials ,the engine has to work .. because it ran for three minutes (i assume with the choke) is the solenoid clicking on the carbe? engines are simple ,if you start and pump petrol and it does not start ,you look at the plug ,if it is wet then spark is not igniting the petrol (maybe old petrol) ,if the plug is dry petrol is not getting through..
