1600 engine compartment wiring and pipe locations

  1. Hiya guys, got the engine back in today but she fought me all the way. Engine builder put studs in that where too short and I only noticed once the engine was in. Having to faf around getting new studs on a Sunday was not welcomed. Anyway, I'll get to the point. Has anyone got some good diagrams of where the wires and pipes go in the engine bay. I marked where all the old wires and pipes came off but I'm not convinced they where in the right place to start with. I've re done the fuel tank breather hoses and where they both meet in the engine bay there's a t piece with a pipe coming off it. I assume that goes to the front of the carb?!? Help me out guys. Doing my nut it.

The fuel breather either goes to the side of an original air cleaner or into the air filter above the carb if its a 34pict-3 and somebody threw away the original air cleaner in an effort to provide the engine with cold weather flatspots and stumbling.

  7. the pipe from 't' piece goes to connecter on airfilter so any fumes are drawn away, see pic

  8. The diagrams above are ace. Thank you so much. The next one I need is for the wiring and i'll be sorted. Anyone got a decent pic or link?

  9. did you re-new your breather connecters while your engine was out. the red one is easier to do if you remove nearside rear light unit.the others have to be done with the engine out.
somebody did put a link on here for the bently manual but sorry can't find it for you.

  10. another thread going at the moment is wiring diagrams, top banana has put up a diagram..

  11. Yes I did but I never noticed the red one, luckily I can do that with the engine in situ.

  12. yeah just remove back light unit, makes job so much easier.
