Well i got a txt saying could i ring the garage, so i did they said they finished at 2.30pm and could i pic the van up or should they leave keys, so they popped them under the arch on the wheel, and thats that, so i have no clue if its sorted or not

Been picked him up and seemed okies, but thats coz short run, so i need to take him for a drive, kinda frustrated

 

well that's a bit of a crappy service... could've at least told you if they had found any issues!!

You're going to have to mend it yourself with our help. You know what they say - if you want it done properly do it yourself.

Ignore the red circle from earlier.
In the green one is the brake servo vacuum pipe. The engine sucks to provide a vacuum. If the pipe is split anywhere - including where it carries on the other side of the tinware in the photo, your engine will stall when you come to a halt using the brakes, but it'll tick over fine otherwise.
If you're in the mood, start her up, get underneath and listen for a hiss coming from the pipe. A piece of garden hose to use as a stethoscope will help you work your way along the pipe including in the engine bay. If you're not in the mood, or it's been raining, use your charms to attract a trustworthy volunteer.

If the garage man has no clue [assuming he knows what engines sound like and he has done all the checks like blocking off servo etc]I would be tempted to look on club 80-90 for a newish carbe or rebuild the old one ,these carbs are quite dodgy...
