I've got less than two weeks till I take on the Velo Birmingham on Sunday 12th May. Now, I did the previous Velo with only three weeks notice and only a little bit of training. BUT, this year I have struggled with my health and well being and have found the preparation a real struggle. I didn't do any riding from November till the beginning of January, and then only a handful of commutes till the middle of March due to a chest infection, suspected pulled muscle and Costocondritis stopping me cycling I think I'm now ready after all the troubles. I am in a group of 15 riders from my college, which includes a couple of sports stars (not CollyP)/celebs/Olympic cycling coaches!!! We have Steve Staunton (ex Liverpool, Villa & Ireland footballer), Blind Dave Healy (multiple World Record Holder) and Jim Varnish (Cyling coach and father of Olympic cyclists Jess Varnish). Anyway, I am on the scrounge for your pounds ££££ PLEASE!!!!! We are raising money for Cure Leukaemia, as we have lost a couple of members fo staff to Leukaemia and it is based locally. People always get put off by donating to charity as I think there are expectations to donate £5, £10 or even £20 - my view is donate if you can, and donate what you can afford so be it 50p or a £1 then superb!!! (you can make donations anonymous and you can also Gift Aid) The link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/south-city-college-birmingham Thank you in advance and I'll shut up now *obligatory photo , saved you from a Lycra clad one
Got my cycling top today Lots of company sponsors (shan't mention a couple of them ) *So should have had Greggs on there. Louey
Thank you for all the donations off here, very humbled The team have raised £13,750 for Cure Leukaemia, and we expect a bit more to come still I've just ridden my last training ride before Sunday, and I felt good despite feeling very apprehensive all week - last weekend's scuba diving course was extremely intense. Expect lots of photos on Sunday night and stories of celebs we have to do photo calls with for the charity. https://www.mapmyride.com/workout/3535663162 Louey
