Well, Percy certainly wasn't. He likes to plod in his own time. I dont want a fast bus. A bit more torque for hills would be nice mind you.

I was going to build a 2332 torque lump but as I quite like the plodding nature Ive decided not to. Just a few more Nm of torque is all I am after now. I'll spend my money on brake and suspension upgrades and some welding. Hell I even love the original interior...as flea bitten as it is. It has charm.

What I really like is how little kids wave at me when I drive by. I'm a sucker for a little girl (oi no dodgy comments please) and they always seem pleased to see Percy. (lol Ricky will spin this one).

I dunno!.....

Got to say though - if they can't get the cold start wiring sorted and the alarm has been installed so badly if goes off when you drive it, it does make you wonder what the more complex engineering looks like. Oh - the upside down gearchange kind of clarifies that point - and I have to say having the fuel cell in the passenger compartment without firewalls sounds like a winner.

Its quite comforting to know that standard late bay discs are unto the job of stopping the van with 300 hp.

It is not my intention with any of my threads/posts to offend or insult any individual or group in any way. I suppose it depends what you want the extra power for. You can still only legally go 70mph anyway, and the discs on a late bay (with servo) are fine for that. Wouldn't want to try it with non-servo drums on a pipe-smoker's van though.

I suppose it depends what you want the extra power for. You can still only legally go 70mph anyway, and the discs on a late bay (with servo) are fine for that. Wouldn't want to try it with non-servo drums on a pipe-smoker's van though.

I would only imagine you would want 300 hp to go faaaaaaaast otherwise why not opt for the single turbo engines in which case you can still go faaast.

70mph is plenty fast enough for a bus. 55-60 is much more like it.

I'd just like my handbrake to actually work.

Believe me, 180 to 200bhp from the non-turbo 2.5 Scooby engine is all you'd ever need. It's plenty enough. You're never in the slow lane (unless there's nothing to overtake), you can comfortably cruise at 75 to 85 all day long, if you wanted to (on the standard 091 gearbox), you can blast past cars on main roads (acceleration in 3rd, 40 to 70mph, is pretty impressive) and you'll not even slow down on the steepest hills. And, you'll cheer up a lot of people, following behind you in cars. But, having thought about it and read the description again, 300 bhp is madness. Especially in a bus which hasn't been massively uprated everywhere else. I think somewhere they claim to have spent somewhere near the 23k asking price on the bus. Really? Where's that then? The bus itself is nothing but a DIY bodge job. For 23k you'd at least expect it to be fully sorted with a nice paint job. And having the fuel tank in the interior cabinets is a joke! You can pay a professional to do a proper all singing and dancing 200bhp conversion for about 6k, all mod cons included. And with the fuel tank in the proper place.

I once drove a '69 prototype bay with wide 5 drums all round and no servo and it terrified me.
