First time doing this- there's some great help in these threads, thankyou! Any advice on our chosen route? Places to go/avoid?

  2. I am 40 minutes from La Rochelle ,what sort of holiday are you after beach ,sightseeing ,activity...?

The Pyrenees are only 3 and a bit hours from la Rochelle and there is some great places on the way @Baysearcher stays on a lake site on route which looks lovely...

The inland places are a bit boring...;)

Depending what you're after, Lacanau and Lacanau Ocean are great!

  4. Mick's place is cheaper and (some) of the company is better too!
There's also a pool and free chicken.
Watch out for him trying to imprison you upstairs for weeks though!

  5. Thanks for the replies! Looking at a mix of sightseeing and beach, bit of countryside, history, nice food, no children so chillout time... Would like to camp at places which aren't huge all singing all dancing hotels without roofs if possible?

Les Grand Pins and Le Tedey in Lacanau are both big sites but at Le Tedey especially you really don't notice. If you book you can get a pitch down by the lake which is really nice.
It's a chilled 5 minute drive down to the beach and we've never had any problems getting parked within a couple of minutes walk. If you surf Lacanau Ocean can be pretty bloody good too!

It's good fun throwing yourself off the side or trying to sprint down it though!
