Plan for tommorow. Rear arches corners and battery trays to be mocked up and a good percentage welded in place! I have to do the front beam also, changing for a new one. Has anyone got any pointers in regards to this? All the mounting bolts have been wd40'd and I've given them a turn, all are loose. On my new parts list have have, new track rod ends, heavy duty brace bar thing, new ball joints, new swivel kit, new steering drag link, and damper plus bushes. Anything else anyone can recommend? Or shall I just crack on and have pretty much covered it?!
Pictures pictures pictures. Agro and stress equals only but klokerholm. Rear arches began and the corners also. Tub repaired and slowly getting there with the rear end. 1. Old crap repair off by PO. Pop riveted with an inch of filler on top. Yack 2. Panel removed. Rot revealed. 3. Repair in place with a lip and the rattle bungs in place. 4.bonda'd!!!! 5. Joggled and offered up. 6. This is where it's at right now!
Looks about the same as mine did! the lower end wasn't over-braided on mine, but was overly cracked and replaced. The filler neck was split beyond and I too probably filled up the area behind the paint tin lid the first time I filled up the bus!
Rain rain go away, only thing I got done that was even noticeably an achievement was th front beam removal. What a absolute rotter! The pictures do it good justice, but a light tap and it's falling to bits.
After battling rain ALL DAY for the d/s arch tub welded painted and Sean sealed and the arch in place. Got everything etched and painted ready for the beam to be rebuilt and got the inner and outer bearing pressed in. Not a bad day considering.
So this is where she is at right now, just the battery trays and engine side panels to weld in place and I can begin seam sealing and painting the engine bay ready to make it a mobile project once again, people would pay thousands for this rat type look in going for rat the moment.. But only temporary
That steering coupling. I don't know where you got it, but it might be genuine, it might be fake. If it's fake you'll be able to bend it 180 degs with your hands and see the metal inserts are loose. If genuine you'll struggle to bend it 90 degs.
More progress this evening, with my first ever noise complaint too!!! My noise complaint virginity is broken! "This isn't an industrial unit it's a community residence" bog off you plonker! Anyway, engine bay side panels welded in place, fuel tank etched and painted, and fuel tank bay rustoleumed!
Wow! Doogle's coming along great since i saw him... Are you thinking of getting him to Techenders this year or will that be a bit too soon?
