    yank
A word used by Brits, Aussies, and various others to refer to Americans. Connotation can range from affectionate to pejorative. Often associated with tired stereotypes of Americans being, of course, fat and stupid people always with big heads , who all drive Hummers and love George Bush (all 32% of us!) and can't locate the planet Earth on a map. But know it all and nothing at the same time.

    pom
A British person - or close equivalent to the species. Specialise in inventing sports and timing themselves on how long it takes before all of their former colonies can defeat them at it. Spelt P-O-M: the "Prisoner of Her Majesty" explanation is an urban legend, as is "Prisoner of Mother England", the other version of this common myth.

I thought Yanks call us Limey's....

Is the question you are asking are parts cheaper over here in Europe than over in the US?

I'm unsure any of us buy parts we can easily get here over there to be honest, so it's hard to tell.

Different story if you are bringing them with you of course.

  4. You seem confused as to which country you are from or in. Yank, as in Yankee Doodle I believe refers back to the English Civil war for its origins and does indeed have a number of connotations dependant upon the context of its use. It is however a term used initially by Americans to denote Federal rather than Confederate troops and became a term of endearment by USA residents to itself. There isn't a British equivalent (Possibly Brit). Whereas Pom is a British (Australian) term referring to those back in the home countries and can indeed be used to convey affection, disregard, etc dependant upon its use. Coming back to Bavaria does make it sound as though you are a Kraut (interesting etymology).

So what are you, a Kraut, an Aussie, a Pom, a Limey.....

Incidentally what parts do you need. Good quality tuning parts cost a fortune to import. If you are off to the Motherland (or the Fatherland if you Austrian and intent on world domination) then I'd be amazed if parts weren't readily available. Id expect bunkers and bunkers of them.

    lol smilie face!

  7. From what I've seen, it seems like dollars for pounds so pretty much everything is cheaper stateside, depending on the exchange rate.
