  1. Set a window seal on fire.

  2. Nothing to it other than filling up at the petrol station. But did use it to take some parts for the log-mobile to work

Poked my finger through a hole on the drivers side cab floor and pulled off some rusty metal from the outer sill! I need to find a place I can rent at the end of the year to do some resto work. Any recommendations? Struggling to find anywhere.

Also do genuine cab floor repair panels still exist? If not what's the next best thing? The klassic fab ones look good but I'm open to opinions.

  4. Sounds interesting... any piccies?

Ill take some next week, I forgot my camera yesterday! Its not as fancy as the Butty one, just cut to a similar shape as the VW one with rose joints opposed to a bent piece of bar!

  9. Put a charged up battery in it and it started, off side lights and indicators seem to have died though.

Fitted the cab mat I bought at Volksworld from Rugs for Bugs. Did not fit round the EMPI gear lever and also fouled my throttle linkage until I made a couple of bigger holes in it.

Fitted new silicone ignition leads bought from Stateside Tuning at Vowo. The air seals for the tinware are great .. if you are strong enough to get them in.. OK on number 3 and 4 side but the air cleaner prevents me getting at them properly the other side.

Adjusted rear brakes, bled all the brakes then decided to Kurust and then paint the rear drum backing plates as they were looking a bit sorry.

Tried increasing the pressure in the front tyres to 33 PSI, after being forced to drive back from Volksworld at 'normal' 50 mph because of the gale blowing .. now it feels like it has power steering. The AA man commented on Tuesday on how heavy the steering was (185/45R15 tyres at 29PSI) .

He also told me he has been recovering more newish T5 Californias than Bay Windows these days because the rain leaks in through the roof and rots them out from the inside, including the electricals. He said he had done two on Tuesday before my bus.

  14. Fitted some better dash vent end peices, the old ones had lost most their colour and are starting to go brittle

I think they share the same kitchen!

I like The Manor House, not too far up St Mary's Road :)

Not sure about the kitchen but they're owned by the same people I think.

Haven't been to the Manor House for years!

Topped up the oil and windscreen washer fluid ready for the trek back to visit my folks this weekend. Untwisted the driver side seat belt too which had been driving me mad.

Broke down in the van. Could hear an odd noise so pulled over to find that the v belt was loose. Tried to tighten but it looks like the thread on the bolt has worn beyond repair. What's the best bet, new alternator? Don't know if that bit is replacable. Will check Bentley when I get home. [IMG]
