  1. Hi , we have a 1979 lhd empty bay , i am thinking of making the units in the back myself , thinking of having over head head locker , wardrobe over spare wheel area, long unit down the same side with husky fridge , rock n roll bed and a storage box that goes between front seats that doubles up as a kind of buddy seat , also want over head storage above long unit with the fridge in. Pictures for ideas would be much appreciated also materials used and any tips for fitting etc , many thanks lee.

  9. Some nice interiors there. I have 3 sprogs so need the full width rock and roll bed that comes with the Helsinki to get them all strapped in the back with us 2 up front but I can see myself maybe looking to redo the interior on ours next year after a summer of working out exactly how we use the current space / layout etc. I'm already going to try and put the overhead locker I got off a Berlin into the Helskinki layout but I imagine it's a slippery slope once you start changing the original Westy interior

  15. Berlin overhead locker isn't full width as it meets with the wardrobe (i don't think a helsinki has that?). Our berlin doesn't have a rear wardrobe any more so we re-made the overhead unit to be full width:

We replaced our berlin 3/4 bed with a full width so that we could carry three across, with the two outers using proper 3 point belts.

  16. Yeah The Helsinki has a very similar wardrobe to the Berlin but no overhead locker so I was going to put the Berlin overhead with the Helsinki wardrobe and see how that works however with the wardrobe out I kind of like the extra space. Plenty more to do before I make a final decision though!

  17. Started the process of cleaning up / refurbing the old sink unit in my Helsinki and the pump fitting that screws into the water container has snapped when I tried to unscrew it  I'm sure I can get another bit / pump to fit etc but as this unit already has 1/3 missing at the back for the previous air con unit and is covered in termite / rat / mouse crap (nice USA import!) I'm thinking about maybe redoing this unit completely as do I actually need a water tank with sink etc? Has anyone done anything exciting with a similar unit or convince me it's worth refurbishing the standard Westy sink unit? Ta muchly

  18. cheers everybody , they are all brilliant and plenty of ideas to be going off
