  1. Finally got some van time :D

The plan was to fill a hole in the chassis top rail then look to put the top pieces on that hold the rubber around the engine so started to clean up the hole:

    Started to weld it in:

After welding it in then ground them down:

Gave it quick rust proof and then the heavens opened so that was all I did :(

  2. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Another bit done though, it's all progress.

  3. Very true Z - slowly but surely!

  4. A few hours yesterday and today.
Wanted to sort the area where the fire panel goes as I had to butcher the area around there, where the electric cables go through so I can put the panel on top of the chassis that the battery tray connects to.
Fabricated a piece to go in. Not brill but a start...

Then put it up withe the lower panel in. Decided to cut a retangular hole to feed the wires through. Will create 2 halves with the holes cut in and then screwed down. Thats the plan anyway.

Once cut got thd old spray cans out and dusted everything down with some etch primer and top coat.

    Outside.

    The other bits...

Started to weld it in but ran out of welding wire
    [IMG]

A bit more done then

  5. Minor update.

Noticed some rust blisters on the root near the gutter and thought I would better look at what was lurking underneath:

Ground them back and not as bad as I thought it would be:

Painting some rust converter on them - later on today will dust with some paint and have a proper fettle next spring/summer when the weather is a bit warmer ;)

    Cheers

  6. it's a thankless task doing bodywork outside...fingers crossed for a few dry days:thumbsup:

  7. Thanks - it is but that's the way it is :(

  8. The rust inhibitor dried:

    Some masking

    Then....

  9. Primed it and put a top coat on but the weather has started to turn with a few spots of rain and the light is failing so...............

Hopefully keep the rust at bay over winter

    Cheers

  10. is that a bit of washing machine?

  11. Nope - piece left over from when I trimmed the rear quarters to fit :)

  12. Wasn't going to do this but thought what the heck:

Has a tarpaulin underneath it as it doesn't stop water ingress (it is 9 years old!!)

  13. A mini update.
Due to work, life and everything else not managed to do much regarding the body work

Started to clean the gearbox up with plenty of elbow grease and starting to look more presentable.
A few pics of before and during:

  18. Yes its grey
Dont forget to etch prime your box first before painting it

  19. Thanks for that - was thinking of using THIS - what you reckon??

  20. Seems an expensive product to use to paint a gearbox
I used tractor enamel £10 for a liter and it goes a long way
I did the gearbox, heat exchangers and all my tinware and had some left over
