My Westy Malaga very rare

  1. While you're in westy fact mode, do you know about how common the prototype bay westy interior was in RHD? (3/4 bed and big wardromlbe from behind the sliding door to the rear hatch)

There's loads of lefty ones about but can't recall seeing many/ any in RHD

  3. Thanks,

I couldn't find it in my book, I really wanted to know where the spare wheel went, i found a RHD interior which I fitted to my van, now I don't have the big blind spot from the wardrobe, but the wardrobe is now over the wheel well so not accessible

I think my interior came put of an Australian van

Nothing in the book. I have never seen another rhd one Tbh.

  5. I hadn't before I found this one.

Maybe it was an australian only thing?

  6. Rhd was a non wt model made for the SA market. So the spare went under the front seat.
There are a few on eb

  7. Thank you :)

That certainly makes sense. I never got the buddy seat or fridge unit with mine so could well have come out of a bulkhead van.

  8. The sink unit is the same size as a normal early one but the buddy seat is more a 2/3 one when compared to the 1/3 walk through version.

I have always thought that in a LHD van in this country it makes more sense to have the cupboard on the N/S as it stops the huge blind spot the LHD version created on the back window.

Kind of buggers up where the table goes though :)

  9. I've got a Malaga interior .... RHD too.

    I think they all were.

  11. I broke a LHD interior ....95% sure it was Malaga ...larger 3 knob cooker with crumpet toaster ?..???....?

Maybe it was. but the book says malaga rhd no mention of lhd just an option for a offenbach and dusseldorf lhd in 74 75. I know the Dusseldorfs I have seen are turret top. I am not sure what a offenbach conversion is like. maybe it has a similar layout to the malaga, but I think they had a turret roof too for some reason. maybe the layouts were similar and it was just the roof option that was different?

I am surprised so many were made and so few are left though.

Wow, I didn't realise it was so complex and anoraky, looking forward to coming to a few events this year and finding out what my van is! I think it's a 1979 Westfalia Berlin Deluxe, but then again.................

A picture from the elusive oxford conversion thread...

Yours definitely looks lhd. But now I am wondering if the Oxford conversion was the same as the Malaga with a different name.
