Hello everyone http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-...range-and-white-1975/1050951533#photo-content I spotted this van as it's just the spec I'm looking for, well priced etc. I emailed the seller and they came back with some more information about MOTs etc and seemed genuine enough. The slightly strange holiday photos didn't put me off so I was about to suggest going to see it... Then I did the quick tax/registration check with the DVLA and it turns out HOD198N is a blue Datsun 160B, off the road since 1986. Am I reading the plate correctly? It is a recent Euro number plate so has been changed. I'd hate this to be someone's pride and joy which has been stolen (although could be an honest mistake)!
Well.. that sounds questionable.... I'd get in touch with DVLA personally and see what an actual person has to say on the matter. Definitely sounds like it needs reporting..
the reg plate isn't showing on dvla as a vw so i'd worry it's registerd to a blue datsun and not been taxed since 1986,.......
I love the fact that you can't even see the van in one of the photos! I called the seller last week, he said it had been sold? I didn't even get the chance to take the mickey out of his photos
A good scam always tries to give an air of honest credibility....you include a few photos by way of establishing that. As @bernjb56, if you were selling a vehicle, why would you only put 2 pictures of it and those from a distance - given that the person seems to take pictures of any old crap? I suspect someone's had their pictures stolen - thought the reg thing is a ponderer. I thought Devon's were panel van conversions - that one seems to have inset windows....dunno if I am right on that though.
Ah the last email I got from the seller was last Tuesday, which might explain why they've gone quiet since. And I've been away inbetween. Ah well. Would be fascinating to find out from the new owner why the numberplate is wrong!
