Managed to empty the van out in my lunch break, put all the camping stuff that we use in the summer or for a long camp on a pallet and pallet wrap it up out of the way, thus leaving the van with the "winter/small camp" stuff in, this now allows me to do a few jobs without having to unpack/repack the van, one really annoying thing is my leisure battery has gone completely flat since i last used the van (september techenders) it was 100% charged the day i parked up and today was that flat it wouldn't even turn an led on, i'm guessing that even on the "off" position my radio or propex must take some draw and has flattened it, i just hope it hasn't screwed the battery as it's only been on a year. I've currently got it on "recondition" on the c-tek.
Could have been sat at 8 volts for instance and not been enough even for the led lights. I have a quick release terminal on my positive terminal do I can disconnect it when its not in regular use. Its just annoying to have to set the radio up each time
no, just a normal relay, i did wonder if somehow it had affected it but i doubt it as it's a closed circuit if the engine isn't running, i've pulled all the fuses from the leisure battery now and the c-tek is just connected directly to the battery and not "feeding" any other circuit.
yeah think i'll have to do something similar, i have a quick release on the starter battery for the reason that if i did leave anything on it wouldn't flatten, that said everything bar engine and van exterior lighting/horn runs off the leisure.
Yeah basic relay won't cause an issue when the engine isn't running. I reckon it was you radio that will have flattened it
been working on speaker relocation, made new kick panels and fitted in there, i'm well aware the bass won't be great but it's more about looks and a bit of directional sound. Used old ones as templates. made from a flexible plastic called whiterock, didn't cut the washer hole as i don't use it i have electric. made sure i got the speaker hole right using the old panel transferred to new made mdf strenghening rings (pic shows in front but they are behind) these rings sandwich the carpet/plastic and stop the speaker moving, being behind you don't see them hence my not caring on how round they are - i used a reel of gaffer tape to draw round haha.
They actually sound ok, these are the 4 inch ones i used to have under the bed, the 6 inch door ones will now go in their place, i figured we tend to use the stereo more parked up and the rear ones will sound better in the bed frame being bigger, plus the small ones going to the front made it easier to fit. The only reason i originally had 6's in the front was because the holes were already in the doors, now i'm fitting new cards with no holes i can please myself. Also my battery is fully charged now although i'll have to see if it holds, i've turned it off and will check in a day or so.
the washer bottle is a thin long electric one, since i fitted it about 3 years ago i've filled it once....... i figure whipping the cover off once every couple of years isn't a big problem!
Its the way old cars are - you can spend a fortune in 1 go and have it showroom but in 4 years time it will be almost back to where it was - dont worry about it, use it and enjoy it thats the main thing I learnt over the years! Keep with it doing well!
