Hi, i am after some advice. I am looking to buy a spray gun to paint my bay, i will be doing primer and top coat, preferably not one that will break the bank.

Does anybody know the best place/site to order paint from and how much paint will it take to paint a 74 bay?

  2. Hi & welcome, with regards to your question I'm sure someone who knows what they are talking about will be along soon.

Cheap car paint is like trade emulsion. It's cheap but you use lots more because it's short on pigment, so not only do you use more but more orange peel as paint will be thicker. False economy IMO.
Find a second hand devilbiss GTi pro and it'll be free because you'll get all your money back on ebay when you're done and easy to use, better finish.

I paid less than £100 for a £250 gun in great condition on ebay. I think nobody wanted it because it had a fancy paint job on it that might have embaressed a pro.

GTi pro is the one. Damned confusing as they all have such similar names and once researched and bought I forgot. Edited my above post to say correct gun now.

  14. I'd say 1.8 - 2

My top coat gun is a 1.4 but the other guy at work uses a 1.6 I think

Resurrecting this thread. What gun would be good for primer and other bits like epoxy mastic on the belly?

  17. Ive never sprayed epoxy mastic but for primer you just need any old cheap gun. mine came with the compressor. a rubbish old non branded thing but seemed to do a pretty good job at spraying highbuild. spraying primer is the easy bit... use this time to practice your technique as it's very forgiving and doesnt really run that much.

Cheers. Yeah my compressor came with a cheapy gun. I'll give it a go on the next bits I paint.

@Paul Weeding I seem to remember you using epoxy mastic in an engine bay. Did you spray that in? How'd it go?
