IYou can't actually use then you know? I hope I'm not around when Mrs Roo's foot slips off and she barks her shin. You definitely will be though and it'll be all your fault.
i'm not feeling the love of my new second hand step, does it help if i say it's shiny and i like shiny things then? oh and i can tie the dogs to it.
It's your van to do whatever silly things to you choose. Don't take any notice of our better opinions
I've got the same mud flaps and step. It's a waste of time as a step but i think they look great. I just cut the metal bracket shorter and cut a step shaped hole in the rubber part.
yeah i think i'll do that - you're all right of course the step is as useful as a mongtard on the chase but i like it.
Ive got a brown auto as well, woeful mpg. Think its the colour, nothing like driving a giant branflake.
At techenders i did a few jobs with the assistance of a couple of you lot, the steering had been a bit wandery for a while but as i'd done the ball joints over the years i thought it might be worth looking in other areas, the mot man had said the front shock bushes were starting to crack so i decided new shocks wouldn't hurt, i also had started to feel notchy steering especially at slow speed, the steering damper was removed and replaced and the old one was about as good at damping as a dry j cloth.... greased the beam (2 guns full of grease!) and also checked the oil in the steering box - there wasn't any so putting some in along with the other stuff made a massive difference, we also checked the rear shoes as the handbrake wasn't holding the van, the offside was siezed and duly freed off and both rears adjusted i now have a working handbrake although being an auto i don't use it.
Hey Ricky I had a step on my Devon and it still had the mud flap on. Just found this photo you can see the VW on the flap. Not sure how it was attached tho.
@Merlin Cat i should be able to re attach mine just not with the current bracket, to be honest i'd already taken the rears off as i got fed up of them whacking me in the head when working on the engine so it looked odd with fronts only.
You are ace at working on your van. You always seem to be improving things, I never seem to do anything apart from occasionally taking it to the mechanic when something has completely stopped working.
i don't trust garages to be honest, i do suffer from lack of confidence when i do a job for the 1st time which is a bit daft but we usually get by with help off here.
