  1. Just a quick note to say we are trading again this year at Busfest. Avon Hall plot A08 please come and say hi and check out our new products plus our clean gas engine bay fire suppression system (technical info after the new product launch).

In addition we will be launching some new products - comprehensive 12V leisure system with an intelligent charger unit, deluxe 240V hook up with everything you will need to kit out your bus to a high spec, Vacuum Advance kit complete with electronic 'points' and prototype bay fuel tank hose that is ethanol resistant:

    1. 12V leisure system - Comprehensive kit comes with a 70Amp intelligent charger unit, pre-fabricated 63 Amp cabling with in-line fuse holders and 60 Amp midi fuses, + battery terminal, -ve disconnect smart isolator, -ve battery to body cable plus all fixings and full instructions.

    2. 240V hook up deluxe kit - This kit is what we use for our customers and our buses. Includes surface mount hook up, consumer unit with 30ma RCD and 2 MCBS (1 x 10A (main sockets) 1 x6A (fridge and for trickle charger)), 2.5 Metres 2.5mm Artic cable, 10 Metres of 1.5mm flexi cable, 1 Metre of earth cable, 3 x twin sockets and back boxes, 1 x single socket and back box. Plus fixings and instructions. As you can see this kit is not the basic stuff but will kit your bus out to a comfortable level

    3. Vacuum Advance electronic ignition - high quality dizzy with rotor arm and dizzy cap and pre-fitted with electronic ignition unit, high power coil and clamp, titanium triple point spark plugs and 8mm low power loss HT lead set. All designed to ensure optimum performance for 1600 to 2000cc engines. We fit these regularly for our customers and they report a noticeable improvement over worn vacuum advance dizzys and 009 centrifugal dizzys. The latter is prone to flat spots that the vacuum system overcomes.

    4. Fuel tank filler hose of modern construction for prototype bay - replace the tired and perished 180mm straight hose on your prototype bay with an ethanol resistant hose comes with correct clamps. Improvement over the original braided hose in that it will not perish due to ethanol now being in fuel

    5. 25 year non rubber fuel hose kits and fuel cut-off solenoids - non rubber fuel hose of correct inner diameter for 6mm and 8mm tails and fittings. Supplied as single and twin carb kits with fuel clips and filter, or can be made to your set up requirement. Fuel cut off solenoid keeps the fuel where it should be in the tank in case of a carb breakage or hose splitting. Solenoid can be wired into the fire suppression system or as a stand alone kit.

Pictures of the new kits will follow tomorrow when packed for busfest!! In terms of special launch pricing we are offering 20% show discount so grab a bargain....

    cheers

benefits can be summarised as follows:

This CE approved automated system is temperature activated at 79°C. When activated the system releases a heptafluoropropane gas at 240 psi, through a 360o diffuser which will provide fire protection covering maximum area 0.71M3. (A typical engine bay is 0.35M3). This product is fully approved for use within occupied spaces because it suppresses the fire by chemical means rather than oxygen depletion. With the engine and electrics being located in the back of a camper van the possibility of a fire whilst driving is greatly increased. This system will react before you can be out of the van to manually extinguish the fire.

Gas is the most effective fire suppression medium on the market for vehicles. The major advantage is that no residue is left within the engine bay. Powder and foam extinguishers once activated leave harmful corrosive residue in the engine bay that must be removed prior to the engine being started again. With the Fireboy system once the gas has dispersed the engine can be run instantly without the need for cleaning.

As the primary function of the gas is to stop the reaction of the fire, there is no issue with the airflow coming from the air vents. The volume of air entering the 'sealed' engine bay is relatively small and the gas displaced will not be forced out of the engine bay by the air entering the vents. The gas is effective at low concentration levels (6%) so you are assured that the fire will be quenched rapidly to minimize damage to the engine bay.

This fully automated heat activated system has four main effects upon discharge.
    • The gas automatically extinguishes the fire - by chemical reaction NOT oxygen depletion.
    • Rapid cooling effect which prevents the fire reigniting once the engine bay lid is opened.
    • If a manual fuel pump is present the gas automatically stalls the engine so preventing further fuel being pumped into the engine bay. If an electronic fuel pump is present the fire suppression dashboard sensor can be installed on the negative side of the switch, so when the system is activated the fuel pump is also cut off, even if the ignition is still on.
    • The dashboard light will alert the driver that the fire extinguisher has gone off.

  2. How much is any of that stuff?

    68_early_bay likes this.
  3. was just looking at your gas suppression units earlier today....great to see someone putting some good kit together

  4. any chance you could say what the safe life expectancy will be for these kits....the reason I ask is that it would be good to offer a trade in or regas service, assuming they have a shelf life

  5. Hi system has 3 year warranty and as with any fire system has a 10 year life. No need to regas etc in this 10 years. After that it should be hydrostatically tested like with all pressurised systems this is not cost effective, so 10 years and a new one but works out less than £20 per year so good investment
