Kind of feels like I've taken a small step back this week but it needed to be done. Obviously the rear arch panels we're strong enough as when I went to flare the offside rear arch, the filler across the joins in the panels cracked. There was only one thing for it so out came the grinder and the workshop looked like a cocane adicts bedroom again but a "few" more welds later there is no more flex in the panel And while I was there I decided to pull the track hack out of its hiding place and give it a good clean. I have too many projects on the go I'm sure, distracting me from the bus lol
Been some very slow progress as if late as been repairing the boot shut where the runner sits. I'm not 100% happy with it really as it was very awkward but atleast its solid abs rust free now, ready to be sealed and covered Also been doing a few other cars for mates. Did a chassis notch on a mates Leon which is on air ride so tried a wheel off it on the bus. Looked better than I thought it would 9x18 tucked nicely inside the arch All the suspension is now painted and back on so once the engine is back in I can turn it around to carry on with the front end. All wheels back on again finally Finished off with the final engine support bar, but as usual you get into he swing of things then something happens. As you can tell from the shoddy weld to the left of the new bar I ran out of gas
Engine bay tins in place. I have used rivnuts into the chassis legs so that I can remove them for access, also because I see them as being a place that will easily catch moisture and start to rust And got the engine back in place ready for the final engine support bar Also quickly jacked up the rear suspension to see roughly how high/low it might sit. I have no idea how many splines have been turned as the torsion bars have been removed for a long time
Engine is finally in place. After all the mucking about trying to work out how to have the support bar removable, it doesn't need to be so its now welded firmly in place Next step get it on the floor and turn it round
Did you buy the curved engine panel that normally has the chassis number on if where as i am after one
looks like a serious bit of work going on there.... here's a tip: if you're planning to put original style rubber mats under the front seats, open the lip up with a flat blade screwdriver before you paint....the mats have a little flange that tucks under this flange....once painted you'll end up cracking it if you haven't bent it up enough to accommodate it.....plus you can get some proper rust proofing under here
There the ones @matty. I have to be honest though, I was abit disappointed with them for £75! I thought they would be a lot more finished really. They are abit rough and need tiding up abit and some modifications to make them for perfectly. I don't really need them with the subaru conversion but as I bought them I thought I might aswell use them
looking good dude, I like what you've done with it all so far, wheels, Scooby conversion, well done what colour scheme are you going for
Cheers @MorkC68. The colour scheme will be a pastel blue bottom with off white tho hopefully. I'm still having a few issues with the wheel and tyre choice atm so watch this space regarding them
