Best way to clean pop top

Discussion in 'Camper Conversions' started by Chrisniclia, Aug 4, 2014.

  1. Hi all

Is there anything on the market that is really good for cleaning the pop top skirts (is that technical name for them) :)

Mine is in dire need of a clean ( needs new one really ) but cant afford it at the moment due to having front seats and a new R& R bed upholstered.

Many thanks in advance for any words of wisdom :)

  2. You mean the concertina pvc material on aDevon roof ? Or fabric ?
Auto glym do a vinyl cleaner thats safe and effective but if its been a while then you need some caravan cleaner which you can get from any camping supplies place.

Yes it is the concertina pvc material. I will go and get some from our local camping supplier as it is in need of a good clean and repair on a couple of the corners

  4. just don't forget to re-seal it afterwards, that'll also make it easier to clean next time :)

  8. I tried to clean mine but it's the original 1973 item (think they call it a bellows) and the dirt/mould is INBETWEEN the plastic layers so impossible to clean. It looks fine from outside, thankfully, but horrid from inside in daylight!

  9. DSC_0691.JPG DSC_0695.JPG Mine looks like the dark brown stripe has bled onto the lighter ones on both sides. Tried fenwicks caravan cleaner with some results but not great. Anyone have any other ideas ?

  10. It's not possible to clean because it's degradation of the plastic as it's not UV protected. I tried every product available plus some old wives concoctions - nothing worked! In fact I believe it made it worse! I'm now having some new ones made.

    I thought as much
It's going to have to wait till next year now when I can get enough pennies together.
Where are you getting your new one from ?

  12. I'm getting one made as a favour by puddle-jump.co.uk.
