Kevin's new interior!

Discussion in 'Camper Conversions' started by peekaybee, Aug 18, 2014.

  1. Had to get my old MFI interior out of my van to get it welded up! After that drumming I couldn't afford a bespoke interior or find an old interior that didn't need too much tlc so, I got a flat pack interior from Mark Godden Designs. All went together nicely. Couldn't work out if it was better to paint it first or afterwards so I did which meant it was harder to assmlble (it is a very tight fit and the thickness of the paint is something to think about) with a bit of adjusting it all went in well, looks great. 3. Love the interior! great job.

  4. Not expensive at all. Came flat packed with very basic instructions but I managed ok. Found a pair of sash clamps to be very useful

  7. Inspired by the update of Kevin by @peekaybee we purchased an interior “kit” for Ellie May from mgdesign whilst on a long weekend in South Devon (saving the £60.00 delivery). It was great to meet Mark and Vicki of MGD, seeing their high tech CNC miller as well as some great finished work.

Our build is coming along nicely, though a little slow!

I am now thinking about the installation and am looking for some advice.

Currently the only camping item Ellie May has is a R&R bed.
My thoughts are to fix a wood baton to the side of Ellie May to support and fix the work top, with metal angle brackets to fix to the plywood floor, though would benefit from s few sage words from you guys.

A few images can be seen below!

  8. Should look nice when it's all laminated....as far as fitting the unit, you're idea to plant some batten along the underside of the top edge is spot on, assuming you can get to the underside.... you might want to check the height of the steel supports along the side, as these can also be used to fit 'lift off' brackets, or just screw thru and cover with caps.....angle brackets for the floor will do the job...
it's far easier to do all the wiring and gas connections before fitting...

  17. thats really helpful fat brum. i guess its relatively easy to cut but only practice will tell lol
im going to take the same route in the next few months so this thread is helpful and inspiring too

  18. I measured and cut a little oversize ~5mm with Mrs FB's kitchen scissors, then once glued in place trimmed with a disposable craft knife, have got though 4 of these so far, they soon go blunt, particularly when cutting across the grain.
I had a practice run first on a small ply box, worth the effort though, as its been decades since I've don't any Van Erring.
