Can anyone recommend a battery charge gauge/indicator that shows the statues of the leisure battery? I'm looking for something cost effective and easy to fit that shows when the battery is to low to use
I've seen a dual type on eBay, that shows the leisure and cranking battery voltage depending on which way the switch is, for about £30 I think it was a cbe one?
I've got one on my boat. Just after I bought it I checked the batteries for our first run out: both in the green Turned the starter and both dead Two new batteries before we could go. Meter now dumped and a depth gauge fitted in the hole. You might not need one of those on the van
I like to use this sort of thing but we only ever use leisure battery and solar for power. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/191053256563?nav=SEARCH
Cig lighter volt meter. Great for checking charge voltage and remaining capacity. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/141237905833?nav=SEARCH
Cheers scote, Is it accurate? What voltage will my battery read when it's at it's lowest point befor it's discharged to much? (It's a 70Amp hour battery)
Full is about 12.6v after surface charge has disappeared. Charging is 13.8 to 14.4v 12.0 has about 25% left. Ideally should not discharge under 12v. 12.4v is 75% 12.2 is 50% Accuracy is close enough. Check with a meter if you are concerned.
