We’re off to wales this summer as we can’t be arsed with the delays that have hampered so many people getting over/under the channel in recent years. We have been to the Gower a few times (anyone stayed at Broughton Bay Farm campsite? It looks great for the beach.). We’ve also been to Snowdownia but it’s too far north for us as we will head out of the smoke west on the M4. But I think we’d also like to go further west this time. I was thinking Pembrokeshire but have never been. We need good beaches and on site stuff to do for the kids. Any good Pembrokeshire or similar recommendations with the above in mind? Looks a bit rocky as an opposed to sandy beaches from what I've seen on the internet so far. Cheers people.
https://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/north-pembrokeshire-campsite-pencarnan.99054/ We had a great time and the beaches are very sandy
Bar and I often look at UKcampsite.co.uk and check out their Tents & Small Campervans section where our type 2 feels at home. Happy hunting!!
The only issue we had all the time we were there was that our phones were getting a stronger signal from Ireland...so switch off your roaming just incase! The onsite pizza, beer, cakes and shop at the site are all great.
Pembrokeshire has some of the best beaches in the Uk. Don’t go there you will make it more crowded and I like it quiet!
I don’t go to wiseman’s bridge or saundersfoot and I definitely don’t go to the pub on the beach at wiseman’s bridge . And I don’t go to Stepaside either!
We’ve got Port Eynon for a couple of nights after Keith’s in August then up to Ludlow and finishing at Farmer Phil’s Festival nr Shrewsbury.
I'm a big fan of the Brecon Beacons. Crickhowell is a good base. Or you can head into the more off the beaten track like Ystradfellte (lots of waterfalls) or Crag-y-nos (a fab caving centre). A walk up Pen-Y-Fan is a must. Quite a few campsites dotted about and hundreds of off grid park ups.
I’ve been looking at buying an house down in the Brecons ( Aberrhonddu ) for a while, but also love Snowdonia ( Eryri ) and keep having to nip up that area to look at totally overrated properties. The right one will come along.
We almost moved to Crickhowell when I was teaching but I was turned down for the job because I didn't speak Welsh. Still can't Spent a lot of money in Askews bakery on cakes
I was in Llandrindod yesterday looking and Llanbister but not really convinced it’s the right area for what I want. I looked near Aberystwyth yesterday too, but not the right place either!
I was going to read the rest of the thread and then search on google maps where we went. It was Tenby, about 20+ years ago. I have fond memories and would like to go back on day.
