Opposite Day is particularly popular among children, who enjoy the kind of absurdity that can happen when everything you say is backwards. This kind of thing can open the mind to some incredibly diverse ways of thinking, and its stimulating trying to keep up with everyone saying the opposite of what they actually mean. The more cynical of us may wonder how this is any different from the rest of the year. Opposite day requires mental dexterity, a quick wit, and the ability to pick words we may not use every day out of the cobwebbed recesses of our brain. Not only that, but some of the things we may be overheard saying to our friends and coworkers may be nothing short of outrageous! Be careful though, you want to make sure the people you’re talking to know its opposite day, or you may wind up hurting someone’s feelings. Thankfully, I'm wide awake and not having any problems at all wondering what this is all about.
It reminds me of inside out day which was solely for people who have a problem with socks or hats or shirts or jumpers or pants
Today is not Burns Night! Haggis, neeps and tatties with a generous dollop of malt to moisten it. Hope @Terrordales is celebrating!
Not exactly opposite but I used to swap the first letters of things like dish washer became wish dasher names like Robin Hood was Hobin Rood Little John to Jittle Lohn Maid Marion was easy but Snow White and FriarTuck caused me some problems. In the Army in Canada ice hockey was a favourite sport and as you know names like Greg Rudeski were famous so the Brits took their surnames reversed them and added ski to the end so mine would have been Nosdarhcirski Try it it looks good
