I do hope you’re going the full STI, flame throwing turbo route ;)

having been in Matt's 2.5, no

that frightened the bloody life out of me as it was, I want to wean off my blood pressure tablets, not need more  :D

  4. Seems a waste as you wouldn’t get the full dump valve experience

Don’t the kids in the Corsa have a new crackle and pop remap toy to pee off the locals rather than dump valves these days?!

sBusy this past couple of weeks sorting the engine lid out.

It was in surprisingly good condition, some light surface rust in places, nothing to worry about. It wire wheeled away and came up nicely.

The worst area was around the perimeter of the six vent slots, the inside had been Dinitrol treated by them specialists and remained good.

Nice and shiny, time to rebuild :D

Before anyone mentions it, the engine hatch isn't a different colour, the tailgate is yet to be resprayed as it was done professionally a few years ago & will be done eventually!

Lots of little bits done this past few weeks.

RCD unit fitted; just needs the cable feeding through to the hookup socket
    [IMG]

Mains sockets fitted and checked for continuity and bad earths etc..all good.

Cab carpet and kick panels fitted
    [IMG]

Right hand cab door sorted out and refitted. The door itself had surface rust on it, not rotten areas whatsoever. It was covered in dinitrol and 40 odd years of dust underneath.

How did your fingers stand up to that task? I shredded my hands when I did mine!

not too bad to be fair, for the most I didn't get any cuts but I did get a bit over zealous with the bottom front curl when I gently tapped it what should have been into place and bent it instead

Ive got the other door to start Thursday!

    Good luck!
From memory I think the jalousie windows were the most testing thing I did on our van....oh hang on a minute....
The fuel injection was pretty gnarly too!
You’re doing a great job by the way!

Jalousie windows...done..paint scratched, to be sorted !

FI, Im not worried about that as its going Subaru next year and I'll pull the motor as a running unit

Thanks :D it could be better in places but it looks better as the bits go back on :)

Finally sourced a spare wheel cupboard cover thanks to Franks Bus Parts down in Essex.

Looked well used and in need of some tlc as the laminate was well worn out but the unit itself is good. The old laminate wouldn't come off completely despite trying with a hot air gun, it did sand down to be in theme with the other units.

Worst case, I relaminate all of the units back to look original which wouldn't be too hard a job.

The cab carpets around the walkthrough have been fitted and look good. I have some mats for under the cab seats which I'll do sometime soon.

On the grand scheme of things, the list of jobs is diminishing leaving a small list:
    • Dynamat insulate the bed area.
    • Refurbish the alloy wheels (polish the rims) and fit new tyres
    • seal nine screws underneath (they hold the plywood underneath the carpets down. OG fit, new screws fitted).
    • Remove the engine & gearbox / driveshafts and paint the engine bay & sloping panel above the gearbox
    • Service the gearbox & driveshafts and refit
    • Have the Subaru motor fitted
    • Source solar panels and install 12V systems
    • Reupholster the seats and bed mattresses
If all goes to plan that is :)
