Colour conundrum.

  1. Hi guys, new to the site but an old hand at giving myself weld burns on Kizbee, my Lhd 2 litre '79 pop top. I'm in the middle of a much more in depth renovation than the past after having it off the road and under a tarp (I know! Not enough protection!) for too long (2 children too long).
I'm closing in on the last of the body work before building a new top end onto my engine but am unsure as to whether I should go 2 tone on colour. I'm replacing window and door seals in any case so it seems now would be the time to do it. She's currently a rather fetching blue with dashes of autumnal rust and a splash of grime infused with filler dust 20190322_180916.jpg . What're your thoughts... other than don't leave it that long under a tarp obvs.

Hello :) , I’m rather fond of two tone vans so I say two tone. Why don’t you throw traditions out the window and use a colour on top rather than white?

I’ve only ever seen vans with bottom colour and white top. How about the blue and a lighter blue?

Don't be silly Alex, everyone knows that green is the only acceptable colour for a bus

    For sure :)

  7. I guess it depends on if you want a more stock look or custom. Always seems a bit weird to me that people slam them to the floor, change the wheels to the blingiest they can and then opt for a standard white over xyz. If it’s stock then I like white overs, if it’s custom then go colour with loads of metal flake and pearl, make a statement

Maybe take an old stock colour but bring it up to date. A nod to the past but with a twist. A bit like you see on a chopped ford pop, something that looks blue in one light but changes to purples and reds etc as the light changes.

  8. Some of the splits had stock two tones that weren't "white over xyz", says me who has a "white over xyz" bus that's lowered and has bling wheels

  9. It has to be white over 'xyz' otherwise the vehicle looks top heavy, the other way round.

  10. Ah, but no rule says white, does it? As long as the lighter colour is uppermost, right?

  11. I mean it's nice that you folks assume I'm flush enough/have time enough to respray the entire thing in 2 entirely different colours... ;)

  15. Pretty sure you've kept to all the right rules there... just not necessarily in the right order.
