I know, but is there an order to disconnecting other stuff? Anything better taken off first to make dropping it out easier? That kind of thing.

  3. Disconnect battery -ve. Undo wiring loom and move out of way. Disconnect throttle cable. Clamp and disconnect fuel pipe under van. Disconnect heat exchanger concertinas. Support on jack. Undo backbar bolts. Undo two lower nuts, upper bolt hiding behind clutch lever. Nut on starter bolt behind fan housing. Take load on jack, yank backwards an inch or so. Lower. Pretty straightforward.

It's straightforward now thanks ... Remember I only have one fan belt change and some "gearbox oil related activity" to my name so far ... :hattip:

Doing that you’re doing the engine a lot more harm than just leaving it in the garage. If you’re not going to drive somewhere don’t start the engine.

  11. Drove down drive.
    Turned van round.
    Reversed up drive again.

  14. Had an unexpected flat battery this morning, so ended up changing the battery to a new one I got a few months ago.

Bored, so after I'd finished greasing the front beam, I fitted a new steering damper.

I got a frame (hoops ?) from NLA VW for the rear of the crewcab from my lovely wife for Christmas and decided to have a go at fitting it this morning.

    It’s the roof height version.

Here are the metal frames just loosely fitted..

First couple of wooden slats in - again , just loosely fitted..

Here’s all the slats and the retaining caps..

It’s a tricky thing to build and install on your own but just about do-able.

The fit and finish of the metal frames is good with decent powder coating.

A couple of the bolts in the fitting kit had damaged threads but I’ve always got plenty of fixings lying around.

The wooden roof slat pre drilled holes were just a little bit off and I needed to enlarge them from 6mm to 8mm to get them to fit.

No instructions are supplied but it’s quite an intuitive set up.

Just got to save up for the canvas cover now.

  17. Done an oil change which was due.

Found a short in my lights as fuse 2 keeps blowing, that'll be looked at another day though as it's getting dark now.
