Ask Snottski for his old empi ones from next doors garden. They don’t need vents!

  4. This is the answer to every "do I need *** add on aftermarket part" qustion
    Did VW fit these parts?....
    Stock will last for ever,
    except for the rust.
    and the end float
    and the fuel lines failing
and the ball joint rubbers perishing
and the points wearing out every 10 minutes
    :p

Be nice if you could buy those parts made in Germany by VW today.

I think they would rot out in short time though. The modern fuels and grease are good at finding out the quality of a product, that’s for sure.

Re the end float. The original engine was good for 100k then bang you had to rebuild it. I think two rebuilds in a case and the 2nd had end float issues.

  6. No, if you needed them VW would have fitted them.

  7. Yes, but only if your engines knackered and breathing like an overweight asthmatic :)

    If it isn't you don't :)

Stuff like breathers : Only if your engine regularly sees over about 6000 rpm. Or your rings are shot.

  15. New piston rings and barrels. Dont hammer it but no rev counter just a vdo clock

If its all stock, the sweep of the second hand gives you the 0 to 60 mph time ;)
    (More like half a sweep .. )

  19. Yes if you install twin carbs like ICT34s. The crankcase pressure increases and causes oil blow back. The breather sorts it. If you are running stock, don't worry.

  20. Why would the crankcase pressure increase if you change the carbs? I'm afraid I don't see the logic here, can someone please explain.
