We've got to pop the fixtures and side window back on tomorrow, move the bus over and do the left hand side :D

A lot of people have good reports of Upol Raptor too. We haven't had any issues with Schultz, we use Dinitrol (Grey, I forget the code) on the underbody chassis areas, its got a rust inhibitor included. Again, there may be other products which are better, its been okay for us to date, touch wood :D

One broken window later, one new window fitted!

A bit of a struggle with the old window, it would not fit for love nor money, we persevered and got it just over half way in and it cracked into several pieces. We sorted it eventually!

Moving over to the left hand rear window frame and we found holes, lots of them!

Alan Schofields do a three piece repair kit which came in really handy.

Old chopped away in sections so we don't loose the panel profile
    [IMG]

we rust treated the inside where we could and did our best to get some paint sprayed inside
    [IMG]

Some of the spot welds tore when we removed the old, a piece of copper to act as a heat sink when we filled the holes
    [IMG]

And we sorted it, came out well in the end :D

not a huge amount to report on this week, been busy with the builders sorting the garage base out. We have got pretty much all of Major's left hand side rubbed down ready for paint, few spots to fill & flat back and we are good to go!

With a bit of luck tomorrow, I will get the rear quarterlight window rebuilt too :D

We have got quite a bit done these past couple of weeks.

Got the full length of the left hand side rubbed back / keyed up and etch primed

I missed the high build stage and colour going on, as we went up north. Came back to us finishing off with a layer of laquer and us putting the left hand cab door back on
    [IMG]

All is not too great with the colour match, the door and cab front / right hand side all match up, however, the left hand is off shade

This section of paint has given us grief, when the colour was laid down, small patches of green or blue bled through, which needed rubbing down and covering and then the paint attracted dust & still does, as though it was statically charged..and now the colour doesn't match. Give me strength :(

Finally sorted the odd paint colour out on the long left hand panel, the paint supplier mixed the codes up

Got the roof platted back and primed

This is straight after lacquering, it was a good day for spraying :)

    @Faust we did it!

Just got the right hand side cab door to sort, engine lid & that's the spraying sorted.

Still to do is the left hand side brakes, wheelarches, underside, roof and interior before making a command decision on the motor :D

not sure yet Matt, Scooby is tempting as the type 4 motor fitted runs really well and has the full FI fitted.

We have to drop the motor as a new clutch and rear cranks seal is needed so, whilst its out I will have a look over it & see what is what & go from there :)

We went for a brighter colour, it’s more like chrome yellow than Marino yellow which is the original colour :)

Now that the bodywork is sorted & the paint matches all around, we're back on sorting the wheelarches out and the brakes.

Front left wheelarch is rot free, which we knew anyway as we investigated it before we painted the body, the brake caliper needs new pistons and seals & the damper is good. Just a matter of removing the old underseal & painting it up etc.

  17. Be interested to we how you do the wheel arches.

I'm planning on doing mine this winter.

    Is it: strip underseal off
    Rust treat
    Paint
    Then add new underseal?
Are you going to paint the underseal body colour or keep it black?

exactly that order Matt, after rust treating we use some zinc rich primer then a good covering of Schutz underbody stone chip then paint with rustoleum in yellow

  19. AHH so body colour on top
