So... late last Sunday I decided to finally swap old headlights for the new hella h4 sealed units I purchased a while back. Took the rims off. Three screw rims fitted to one screw tab. Messed about but could not get the new lights to line up as the back plate does not have a pre drilled hole. Long story short tried lots different positions. Doesn’t line up. Is the van missing a plate to attach the lamp to or is it missing tabs to screw the lamp to? Having spoken to jk on the phone and been told to rotate the lights 180degrees and fit with one screw rims I’m still nowhere near getting them fitted. The new jk rims seem to large. I can bodge job a washer to fit over the recess and try and fit using the one screw rims or drill new holes and fit with three screw rims. If anyone can make sense of this ramble your help is much appreciated. Some photos to help the confusion even more
I am sure someone will be along on a moment who knows definitively but I don’t know if they will fit without changing the fitting in the bowl. I don’t think you can change the older 3 screw lights to a single screw set whether an enclosed unit or just newer lights. If you can then great as replacement 3 screw ones are really expensive. Hope you find out and get it sorted out soon Ben
Thanks for the reply - are you saying there should be three tabs regardless of that unit? Or have I just got advised wrongly and purchased the wrong headlamps.
There should be 4 tabs in The headlight bowl sort of 3 for the headlight and one for the headlight rim, one of the 3 tabs is longer to attach the rim, the tabs are welded to the headlight bowl From what I can see that headlight is not going to fit
Yep just got to that conclusion from peering at google images. The bowls have just the one tab. Will have to put old lights back in temporarily. Thanks for your help.
I am sure someone will let you copy the tabs on their van so you could weld some in? Could it be that simple?
