Having owned my van for over 10 years, this is it's 2nd restoration, the first was done and it looked nice and shiny, but rust had taken hold and it failed it's mot in 2017. So now it's back to another restorer to do a better job than the first.
Once in the garage all running gear, petrol tank and engine where removed, along with windows and doors, then the van was blasted at various points to see how bad it really was.
Looks like a proper job is being done and I can see it's going to involve the replacement of a lot of metal. You'll be happy when it's done. Just out of curiosity on my part (and because I've had to do all the welding on my brothers camper in respect of the central section of chassis, I beams, Top Hats, Inner support sills, Inner Sills, cargo floor, closing panels, heater control tubes, handbrake tubes, accelerator tubes, throttle cable tubes, central heater tube, Y Piece, front clip repair, rear chassis repairs, cargo floor section between rear inner arch tubs...etc) what hourly rate are the restorers charging or what did they quote for the welding....I want to scare the crap out of my brother and give him a spoof bill for all my work which at present I estimate at some 300hrs (Ed's time is as much too)
