  1. Wouldn't go as far as naturally, if I don't know how do something a bit of research and trial and error. Also seems to work out, but I've got a few mates who do fabrication so I get my work checked out before moving on.

Also a bit of no choice, I could never of afforded a nice already finished bus so it was either learn or don't own a bus :)

I have manages to bruised both sides of my hips from doing this underneath. Bruises have only just gone down, but that's my fault for not having enough cushion and just working on the bare slabs.

All part of the fun :D

  4. What’s the chassis rails like under the tow bar?

  5. The inner rear valance?

If that's what you mean it's going to be replaced

  6. The part the tow bar is bolted to
The captive nuts corrode and the bottom of the rails rot
It would be daft at this point not to remove the towbar and take a look.

  7. Chassis rails are fine dude already removed the tow bar it's been out back on as a brace at the moment, as I'm going to be cutting and welding all round that area I wanted to ensure nothing warps.

Probably won't happen and a bit Overkill but it will also help aligning the d pillar bottoms I got coming.

  9. Started on the d pillar repair, also going down the route of a removable rear valance that will be able to be removed by undoing the tow bar bolts.

Looks like it's going to work rather well while still keeping the right lines for the engine lid.

I'm not to sure how much is going to get done over Christmas but hoping to get a few days in after and before New year. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  10. Well I haven't updated this in a while, there has been fun, progress and a 3am disaster wake up call.

    So here goes.

Lower d pillar on the LHD done and whole rear quarter replacements. Along with a new leisure battery tray with clamp. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  11. Moving on from they successful weekend was Wednesday just gone 3am wake up call, due to my own stupidity of not checking the weather or correctly fixing the 3x6m tent down. This is what i awoke to at 3 in the bloody morning.

Initially the tent was on top of the van, i had to result in slashing the roof tarp off before it flew away.

A quick dash of everything electrical into the shed the bus was wrapped up in the remainders of the roof tarp and back to bed i went. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  12. Forgot to mention before the tent incident the RHS rear arch has been put on, unfortunately, i seem to be missing a lot of the pictures.

But moving on to this weekend £200 later and some 18mm ply has been attached to the inside poles and 3 1m batons holding the tarp down from the outside, along with concrete feet, i don't think it's going anywhere fast. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

  15. It was a busy weekend just gone, engine side tray in, all that's left to do at the back is the rear valance.

OS lower inner arch mudflap done, along with the cross member, and finally repaired the front tub seat runner [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  17. This has definitely been the worse part to weld, the sliding door wasn't fun. But after a lot of tweaking it fits rather well. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  18. A few good general overview pics of the van, she is booked in for paint mid-March with an estimated timeframe of 5/8 weeks.

I was going tackle the paint myself but after careful consideration of the current working environment the van is stored in i don't think its a viable option.

And also I'm a bit tired of every weekend of welding this or that, so decided go have a very expensive rest and let someone else paint her.

Luckily I'm good friends with a lad called John who runs hilltop classics local to me a splitty rental/wedding business who also restore vans so he has been my choice for painter. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
