Does anyone have any opinions on these wheels and what would a set of 4 2nd hand good condition wheels with decent tyres be worth? https://www.vwheritage.com/ac601023...s-7jx17-with-5x112-stud-pattern-et40-vw-spare Cheers Mike
I was wrong they're actually this brand, http://www.johnbrownwheels.com/products/jbw-17.html An even worse name!!!
I have the chrome finish ones, they looked great for a day then became badly pitted. Reckon I should have used polish they recommended every couple of hours!
not a fan personally. original fuch are lovely wheels but these look nothing like a proper fuchs IMO. as above i've heard reports that the quality isn't great but i have no personal experience. go to a show and you'll see lots of cheap nasty fake fuchs wheels - can't see the attraction.. these are 7" wide so you'll lose some clearance on the inside and they'll poke more than the stock wheel. you also need to consider what tyre you'd run with them and whether you can get an approporiate load rating for the bay. fitment: http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.ph...ct2=55&wheel_size=17&wheel_width=7&offset2=40 how much for a used set? its a bit of a "piece of sting" question tbh - depends on condition (and the tyres)
I think we all, prefer a real Fuchs wheel (Rob.e) , but seeing as a good set of 4 will cost you in the region of £2k for the common 6" size and anywhere up to £6k for the 4 1/2s ,then a good repro is the only way to roll , especially as the originals are not rated for a heavy vehicle like a camper (and early fuchs wheels are not suitable for tubeless tyres). I am lucky, and have real fuchs (not on a camper) and some of the JBW copies. If you get the fully polished copies and detail the black yourself then you will have a very good looking wheel. Every one has an opinion, but i find the opinions of people who have had experience of a product more useful than hearsay, and "it will fit it´s only 4 bolts"
