i found a couple of cab doors on a fagbook group, and a 2 hour round trip i got these for £30 each my old door is at the front , the newer ones have some small corroded bits, at the base but have all of the corners and all of the lips... same again , both doors need reskinning .. but not many more hrs work so im well happy ... @JamesLey @martinvention
Nice one mate, repairing the inner bits was fun but time consuming. Getting the skins on is really rewarding.
Whipped the skins off and the doors are full of...... Waxoil.... which explains why there is more metal left..
When I say newer doors they are actually older.. 1972 stamped on the hinges.. So good for my 72... I'm going to cut out a few rectangles of corrosion, on the bottom edge and put new steel in, Not much tbh...
Had ago with the 1mm slitting disc.. Took these out 20mm wide strips .. that's all the damage on one door.. Flooded the bar behind with some rust converting paint that I had warmed up.. So it's run into the void at the bottom of the door... When dried will weld new metal in..
You lucky git! Where's all the crusty corners that should need repairing?! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Unless you park nose downhill 100% of the time.. then they drain into the wheel arches under the little mats then rot the arches instead..
100 % Correct !! When I am parked out overnight, as I am now, over in Brittany, I park nose down and cover the air intakes with cling film if it's going to rain. Tony
Im even more pleased .... compared to these solid repaired ones... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLKSWAGE...582416?hash=item2cc63f0f10:g:NFsAAOSwv2FZj3bt
I binned off my original doors that were much better than those for rust free Australian imports @£90 each .....oh those were the days
