  4. Right I need help!

I've replaced the battery, spark plugs, HT leads, coil, complete dizzy assembly
(Dizzy, cap, rotor arm, condenser) and it still won't fire!

  5. It won't do with that in your hand....you need a new dizzy cap.

  6. Im working in Lincoln tomorrow. I could come and look:thumbsup:

I can't believe none of you know the late bay flux capacitor when you see one!

  9. That's the little carbon brush from the centre of the cap - it is on the end of the spring - you can push it back on to the end if you are careful and it should stay on place .

  10. Thanks for the offer, but I'm not available tomorrow. Friday is the day for tinkering!

  11. There is fuel and the plugs were wet.

009 dizzy on a 1776 type 1 engine. I have the Haynes Manual to set the timing, no joy.

  12. Mate did you see the earlier posts.....?. take off your dizzy cap and check that the spring loaded contact is still present in the centre. It looks like you have no connection between the cap and the rotor arm.

  13. This ^^

Just fit a spare cap if you have one or try slipping it back in if your desparate - it won`t fire without this !!

a 009 is about 90deg different to a standard dissy
you need to get the engine at tdc on no1 then turn the dissy so that the rotor arm is pointing at no1 lead that should get you started then you need to time it with a strobe

  15. I've checked and re-checked everything is where it should be and still nothing. I have spark from the coil to the dizzy (that's the only spark I've checked as the wife went past. But still.

  16. Have you checked for spark at the plugs? An old plug is handy .

  17. Have you checked with a new/spare dizzy cap??

You'll get a spark from the coil, but not from the plugs until you get that little centre pin this thread starts with sorted.

    So yeah, it's fuel.

  20. Is that knackered fuel pump? Revesby garage really cocked your engine up didn't they
