1st fill since fitting new turbo valve thing and also since going on speed awareness course shows a better mpg.

ahhh, another person who believes their bay does better mpg than vw quoted...... regardless of what you think your bay does, my t5 does twice the real mpg my bay did and twice the speed.....

  8. I've no idea what VW originally quoted. I tested mine when I first got it and a few times after and yes, it's slower (hence my username) but, keeping the speed down to 50 mph on a sizeable run, he can achieve between 28 - 30 mpg. I totally understand why you bought it and I may do the same one day but me and my other half have a van each (hers is a T4) and I don't particularly like modern vehicles.

A nice little cheap mod done tonight, the posher vans (like @Robo s) have a second door seal to reduce noise etc, you can buy them but they are daft money and you need to drill the door..... Or you can source the same rubber with adhesive backing and clean the door well and stick it on, the real seal is on the frame the new on the door, I had enough to add a seal around the rear of the slider too, I'm hoping I may get a reduction in road noise, at worst it should be warmer, doors also shut with a nice thud now and don't sound as tinny.

I'm surprised you're getting wind noise anyway in such a modern vehicle.

the problem is it was just a panel van so there is very limited soundproofing compared to a kombi or shuttle (the passenger version)

yep, everytime i mow the bloody thing i curse it.... i hate gardening and i was swayed by the big garage - one day i'll have a shed with no mower or weeding tools and i'll be pleased.

I'll bet it was quieter even before the new seals than my van is. :)
