On the triangular pats of the hinge, on either side, there is a little notch'square cut out, about 3-4mm wide and about the same deep. One end of the spring hooks here, and the other hooks in to the U shaped catch that is a bit further down. It is used to keep the catch spring loaded, making the bed easier to put away after it's been out. If done correctly, once the seat is in 'bed' position, lift the seat base upward and you should hear the catches click into position. Then you can just push down on the base and the whole thing will swivel back into the seated position.

No you cannot use the springs on their own. They Are for use with the Westfalia hinge which is very different.
Ok, Dicky, but the justkamper sells for the rock and roll their, and the rock and roll of the justkamper it´s not Westfallia, I put on my seat back a handle to help up / down. See in the pictures. It is not finished missing the front panel.
