Distributor cap cleaning

Just cleaned the inside of the distributor cap to remove the crud. Is it best to leave the cleaned contacts "bare", or can they be coated with something to keep them shiny for longer??

 

no coating necessary....any oil/grease will make for a poor spark..

 

wouldn't bother cleaning just replace they not expensive
