Just to balance all this Chuckle love out a bit, a few years back when Mrs Tatty was working on the kids ward at our local infirmary, the Brothers Chuckle were in panto here and were s'posed to be visiting the ward to bring some "To me, to you" Christmas cheer. They never turned up :-(
I used to live in a small village near Scarborough and fished Scarborough Mere regularly during the summer ... Got chatting to a couple of young lads fishing next to me one day who ,rather sheepishly , let slip their dad was`an entertainer` , i might of heard of him ?? One of the Chuckle brothers wasn`t he So not only do i have a tenuous Chuckle brother link , i also have cast iron proof of a next generation waiting in the wings ... Scarey
In the late 80's/early 90's Timmy Mallet did a meet and greet at the Bristol balloon fiesta. I was a big fan, in the week leading upto it I'd skilfully crafted a mini mallet from a kitchen roll tube and an empty box of Mr Kipling apple pies, tape, paints etc. The big day arrived and we were up at the crack of dawn ready for our meeting. We queued up for what felt like forever, I was probably about 6 at the time. We got hurded through and got a few moments with my hero. He bonked everyone on the head with his soft mallet, but I fought back and gave a bit of a beating with mine. Anyway, a few months later on wacaday, a new little mallet character appeared, pinky purky. He clearly stole my idea, and never gave gave me credit
Always wanted to fish scarbrough mere, I never got round to it thou, what's it like? Looks lovely from some pics
It was pretty good to be honest , not deep but great leisure fishing with an ample stock of Carp , Bream and my favorite - Tench . Also had many pleasant evenings fishing the lake at Castle Howard I wasn`t a serious angler by any means , i just enjoyed the locations - if i wanted excitement i`d put a hook on ...
Sounds good, partial to tinca or two. Pictures look really nice that I have seen. Will look into it after the new year.
Old Granty - still going strong but mostly in the pre`65 trials arena . In passing i`d like to say his resembalance to the Chuckle duo is uncanny - he`s certainly paying them an impressive tribute ...
'some stupid with a flare gun' I was not stupid and it was a Very pistol, and 'funky Claude' only ran back in once and never ran back in again, because on seeing the severity of the fire... He just about shat himself and never went anywhere near it again. This is all true.
