Ah, but if "the other chap" didn't buy it, I'd have offered it to 59amba at the going rate - £50. ;)
This is why I tend to hang onto stuff until someone I recognise as an owner is looking.

I've "sold" loads of things here for postage costs and I'd be really upset if someone made money by abusing my good nature. It's just not cricket.

  3. I was stuck with my bus being insecure due to a broken handle. I put a shout out here and sandybay jumped straight in and gave me a handle for post cost only. It's the one that's in my "for sale" post. There's no way I'd keep the money that I've sold it for. No way!

I will happily sell you anything if you need it. My original post was really aimed at the buyer to get his finger out and purchase the pulley as it was an absolute bargain.

Not really. About right I'd have said.

Dude, if you're happy with your for sale price then that's fine by me.

So, does that mean you recommend his asking price? That makes it a RRP doesn't it?

I would see if 59samba would sell just the special shouldered bolt there quite rare to get hold of , and snugly fit on the wheel

Its a sellers market for these camper bits, JK, VWH and others aint giving stuff away.. If its hard to find but paying a premium means I can get it next day im probably going to pay the asking price.. If someone thinks something is too expensive or indeed if it is expensive the part will sit on the shelf doing no one any good .... you should look at Karman Ghia stuff... that will make your toes curl... :)

  13. I agree, you should try buying classic Ferrari parts, you literally need to remortgage your house to buy bits

  14. Yet MGB bits are reasonably priced and, in my experience, are at least as good quality as the vast majority of the camper bits I buy - usually a lot better.

I wonder if this is because there were far fewer changes during production so the market for each part is a lot larger?

  15. I restored a fiat 500 years ago that was on display at Earl's Court, the parts were so expensive and of such poor quality it was unreal. Body panels looked like they had been pressed into the moulds with someone's fingers!

  16. You can buy them new... they're only shoulder bolts

The problem most people would have though, is that in order to specify it you'd have to already have one.

  18. That's what asking is all about ;)
