So here is the van after all the paint, filler removed and patched panels/rot are revealed. There is quite a shopping a list for replacement panels. Nice thing will be knowing when the job has been done it will be totally 'solid.' Green primer to stop any more rust. The doors need replacing as the lower section had been cut and badly patched. Front window quite bad.
No I won't be doing the work. Its a proper full restoration so zero rot at the end of it. Still haven't decided on colour, roof or interior yet?
decide whether you want a swivel front passenger seat before painting it...roll over jigs are the business....
No such thing as zero rot unfortunately. There'll be some hiding somewhere, somewhere you can't get to, like inside the deformation panel or roof frame All you can do is get rid of the obvious bits and try to stop what's there getting worse and new stuff starting. Looks like a nice solid van to start with though. Good luck
We have decided to use some one else to continue work due to spiraling costs so there has been a delay. In the next few weeks it will be be transformed as work is due to start soon. I'm hoping that it will be emerald green lower section. White top section. Westfalia interior (interested to know any opinions on this choice). I do wonder if filler may have been the best route, certainly saved a lot of money but once the project starts there is no going back, especially if you've going to have a proper job.
