I wouldn't pay a penny for a bag which advertises the store's name all over it. They should pay me!

When I were a lad, we didn't have supermarkets. Me mum went to the local shops with a wicker shopping basket. There wasn't any plastic in those days, just paper, tin or glass. Freshly ground coffee in a paper bag, Stergene in a glass bottle and Spam (oh no, not again) in a tin. We had proper steam locomotives in those days as well!

I nearly jumped in the soap box in Tesco this evening. We reuse ours for dog business and more recently clearing the rotten apples in the garden... But on my soap box, to make a real difference to the plankton and fish, our lazy greedy government should force the shops to produce biodegradable or paper bags and outlaw the use of petrololeum based bags, instead, they no doubt take a cut or bow to the pressure of the big 4.

  5. I spend around £300pm on shopping at which ever shop I choose, then I gotta pay for bags.

    I don't think so!

  6. You going to put it all in your pocket? :p

  7. we reuse them for pedal bin liners in the kitchen = recycling. So now its cheaper to buy bin liners = single use. so the new law means I produce 100% more bad enviro killing stuffs!

Call me stupid but why not get a couple of them folding crates to keep in the car/van then go shopping using a trolley, pay and put shopping back in trolley then pack into the crates when back at car/van. No bags required.

  11. ...or, why not buy a pair of cargo pants with lots of extra pockets. That way, you won't have to pay for bags!

  12. we use folding canvas bags n leave in the car they is cheaper  but your idea might catch on , have you thought of dragons pen ?

  13. I save 25kg Portland Cement bags, shake them out a bit, and use them for shopping. What could be simpler?

  15. The money from the carrier bag charges is going to charities. It is said that it will raise about £730 million pounds.
