Boot full of "stuff" has gone to be cleaned, blasted and powder coated. Wheels, bumper irons, tinware, engine support bar - you name it, it's gone to be prettied up. Engine is lagging behind a bit. Half the sound proofing supplies didn't arrive. But @Top Banana Racing delivered a heap of T4 tins and some opening 1/4lights he picked up for me after I won them on ebay. I owe you a few pints Glynn, sorry I keep missing you!
a bit of a long way off, but what have you got planned for the interior? are you doing a custom build again with leather upholstery .....you made a great job of the last one
Don't you believe it! I've slept in it the past 2 nights, though there's nothing at all in the back. I have: Sound proffing Wood to cut for floor Marmoleum to cut for floor Luis's old units c/w cooker/sink and some electrics. J-strip and wood for ceiling Inside is painted I have front seats and a spare hide. I have RR bed though it's a crap Devon and made for the other side of the bus Poptop is all good apart from skylight which I have ready to fit, but needs putting back on. I have eber and ducting/wiring etc. I'm going to have the interior done before I have an MOT or an engine because I don't have anywhere else to sleep. I have most of the engine parts for Rob Parry to build me my 2.4L engine. I have 6-rib box I'm picking up powder coated wheels, engine bar, bumper irons, fan housing and tinware on Monday. I have carbs and exhaust, need to get manifolds and linkage. I think I might have to hand paint the engine bay, not sure I can be arsed to mask off the van and clear out the paintshop, but I'll leave it a while and might get tidy enough to do it. I have nothing else to do and frankly living in a spray booth is a bit dusty, not ideal! I'm very happy "roughing it" though, it's not so bad. Simply to be out of the situation I was in is a weight off.
Eldest left home years ago, youngest is with ex for a while, he has Aspergers and not sure he'll ever leave home. That's kind of against both their wishes and hasn't made the last week much fun for anyone. Her turn as it were.
For some reason I thought they were both at home with you, at least it might save you a bit on food bills!! I can see why you are cracking on with it now, I had a mate in a similar situation ......except he bought a boat and lived on that. It was moored in the deep water channel so he had to row ashore each morning and evening to get to work No mod cons, just 12V for the lights, a radio, a tiny galley and a bucket for number 2's! but it was pretty cosy! .....except in the winter .....I had some good evenings out there with him. Have you got a new house lined up (I've not got round to reading your solicitors thread yet!)
Not sure if ive got anything you need Steve but if your stuck for owt let me know. Its always worth the ask.
Tsk Diddy, you haven't been keeping up, I've been planning for last 4 years to buy a narrowboat, the van is to go looking at them in hence the rush.
Living the dream then when I'm in Bath, I look wistfully out of the meeting room window at the narrow boats I do remember seeing some of your posts on boats, but didn't realise you were going through with it
@Lasty I can't quote you properly because you wrote inside a quote. This - as you probably realise - is the major flaw in your master plan .. See @@snotty for details ... But you forget Rob's a friend and just 30 mins away from me, he's already stripped cleaned and checked two cases and parts, bought a new cutter for the enormous barrels, checked the head and fitted new guides + apart from bearins I'm supplying all the parts and nudging him along. I take your point though, we'll see.
