Gravy wrestling? http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/aug/31/gravy-wrestling-world-championships-lancashire Ecky Thump not good enough these days?
We were asked by friends if we wanted to go to the gravy wrestling ,but declined there kind invite as I don't like a lot of gravy with my wrestling
That's why I don't do North off Bristol often. Mind you I have been spreading my wings a bit I've made it to Gloucester a few times.
I'm sure you mean this in a jovial, banterish way and that you aren't so parochial as to not have been anywhere in the "north". That said if you should venture up to East Lancashire at some point then you will find a warm welcome in Bacup. Make sure to discuss your views on the North with the locals who will no doubt invite you into their hovels to demonstrate the latest innovations in washboard and mangle technology and allow you to sample the delights of hotpot, tater pie and black pudding so black that light cant escape from it and to get too close risks tipping yourself over the event horizon and travelling back to a time not so very long ago when the wealth of the nation depended upon the means of production and the Northern powerhouses whilst the north was still held in some distain by southern "fops" even they knew that without it we were a second rate nation. We've apologised for wars and conquests abroad but never an apology for the death and misery of the industrial revolution and more recently the scrap-heaping of the working class in Thatchers model of de-industrialisation...... So take to the streets my brothers, march on Whitehall and demand that Gravy Wrestling become our national sport! Nice to see the gravy is vegetarian though!
I think by the time my tractor had got that far, the gravy wrestling might be over, but as long as there would be a warm welcome for a soft southern shandy drinker I'll be happy
Turn up on a tractor and you'll be instantly accepted my friend! You any good at Morris Dancing cos this lot like a tractor:
Well funny ,now its the best place to live and bring up a family in the UK Have a nice day http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/...st-place-in-England-to-bring-up-a-family.html
I've lived very close to a few places on that list and literally just around the corner from a couple. I prefer the North West to where I am in respect of the friendliness and community inclusion but not the weather or amenities/services. That said id move back in an instant (the wife might have something to say about that). Ive no idea how anywhere associated with Nottingham got on that list!
Its great here ,Manchester's a brilliant city ,2nd city of England and there's North Wales the lake district, Yorkshire dales and the Pennines on your door step, don't care what anyone say's
