Make sure you get the whole loom out, all of it, as from the rear bulkhead forward has bits you may need.

Careful not to alter any of the immobiliser wiring - it's sensitive to wiring loom cuts.

  5. Yup I have read a few pages on the loom..
The key has a chip in it..
May keep it, and use it..

There is even a fagbook group (I'm on) just about the loom conversions...

Do it! It still works as an immobiliser system once you've done the conversion. Mine has a second ignition system that I use the scooby key in. Take that key out and it ain't starting.
    Win win!

It's not the pain in the ass it sounds. The scooby ignition is hidden away and can be left on the whole time if you so desire.
I was going to swap it for a red thumb switch but it didn't have the transponder in!

  10. 2.1s aren't a bad motor you know!

    I'm sure they're not.
I was just winding up the guy who thought he was the first person to come up with the genius line "if you want water cooled buy a bongo/T5 etc etc"
    :D

Not me matey put whatever motor in you want
    your bus your rules !
If I wanted more power I would put in 2.3 turnkey air cooled or something
and not devalue my bus with a half worn scooby motor
Dont forget to put your antifreeze in before the winter:thumbsup:

Especially when they seem to have little idea of what they're talking about. See below.

  16. how much is a proper rebuilt, half worn 2.3 aircooled ..?
and then how much to have it repaired later ...

a half worn scooby engine probably still has 100k miles left ;)

    tbh
this one does not seem to have lost much value with its engine ...

There are so many with engine conversions about now that they come up for sale every now and again. I've certainly not noticed that converted buses sell for less than stock.
As air cooled engines get older and older, converted buses popularity will grow I think.

...and you have a freshly built turnkey T1 engine to sell too.

I agree, I don't think it makes any difference to value unless it's been bodged in and a bodged up air-cooled would also devalue your bus as much.
But I would guess it would put some people off and limit your market, though to what extent who knows? Less and less I'd say, the installationsa are common and usually tidy.
