picked up my subaru donor today, 10 months mot 111000 miles non imobiliser 1998 Imprezza GL £275.. Drove it on the trailer done and dusted. Plan on using the full Bell housing conversion too. Can you post ;loads more pics of the engine cradle/ sump mods/ rad mount/ etc... what rad did you use ? any links to a build page ? cheers for now...
Nice one fella, I'll take some pics over the next few days of the bits you mentioned. The rad, rad mount, engine cradle are all part of the Rjes kit. The sump has been shortened, I think J did it himself, I'll ask him.
Appreciate it .. I'm gathering as much info as I can to see how things fit and what needs modded etc. looking a wee bit sidewards as well to using the subby 5 speed ... I don't mind fabrication work I'm fortunate to have been doing stuff like that for years and have the gear to do it, problem is I don't have much in the way of imagination so like to see how other folks did things ... and copy them LOL..
Hi Chris, just wondering how life with a scooby is have you still got that big smile on your face, what sort of MPG do you get out of it. Is definitely on my wish list
It's great mate, I've had a few little teething problems but nothing major. The smile factor is still there. Can't tell you what I'm doing mpg wise cos I can't stop blasting it around at the mo When I'm feeling more sensible I'll start doing some normal driving to get some figures.
Glad it's sorted mate! Did it make any difference? TBR has a long 4th but it cruises at only 100rpm slower than my stock one. I'm going 5 speed soon.
Hiya Chris, Nice job on the bus mate. The chap that carried out the conversion for you, does he only do Scooby work? Asking as I've got a 1.9TDi (mk4 Golf) that needs a bespoke / hybrid sump and I can't see how I'm going to do it.
It's better than it was but not a massive difference, it doesn't help that I only have a 5 rib. Don't forget I want first dibs on your 6 rib if you get the 5 speed.
Hi I am not sure why you need a bespoke sump but if it is just for clearance Darkside developments do a steel replacement that is 11mm shallower for the golf Mk 4 TDi. Hope this is of some help. Also being steel if you do happen to bash it it dents rather than cracks.
