After recently getting a genuine Vw slider for my sliding door i loved how nice and airy it was and how i could leave it open but shut the door and sit in the awning and have the radio on in the van, plus the dogs got more air while i was driving, then a few weeks ago on a very hot day i thought it would be nice to have a window open by the seat in the back when we were sat in there or having a snooze so i looked at the options, i saw that J.K and VWH did them at similar prices although JK at the time were cheaper, although i have nothing against J.K i had such good service off VWH when i bought my engine parts and got such an amazing price and service i thought i'd talk to them, i rang @Alex VW Heritage and he beat the J.K price well and so i ordered one, it came the next day via U.P.S and was packed really well and had no damage, after my initial brain freeze at how to fit the seal my good pal @Moons came round and applied more logic than me and we fitted it tonight, the fit is good and the seal is perfect in the surround, looks good on the van and i'm sure will be great when camping, the only slight niggle i have is (and it's my ocd trait) the handle that locks and makes it slide is visible outside and a different shape than the genuine one and it just makes it look a bit odd, but that said the quality is good and it's well worth doing, the link to get yourself one is here http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_act_search.searchResults.htm?sType=quick&maxDisplayRows=15&searchText=sliding window&btnSearch= ring alex you never know you might get a cheaper price like i did but i can't say for sure, people feel sorry for me 'cos i have a poo coloured van.

  5. Don't you have bugs over there on your little island?
I would love one of these but our mosquitoes would swarm in, drain my blood, then carry me off in the night to feed my shrunken husk to their larvae.

the proper centre one is better quality for sure, but the rear one is quite acceptable, they are great i wish i'd bought both now and got rid of both louvres.

  9. The bugs we get are large but tend to lurch rather than fly properly not as noisy as mozzies, dont bite or sting but like to swim in teacups and when walloped drop legs around the place...no sense no feeling.
Like the look of those windows.

  10. I think they missed a trick with these sliders...the riviera slider had a neat mosi net that could be opened or closed to suit....shame they're NLA
Having said that, I prefer sliders to opening rear quarters for the reasons you stated

i've got an opening rear 1/4 on the other side rear and still the westy louvre in the centre other side although i'd like to lose that.

vwh issued a warning not to fit them on the slider side due to this...... i do not suffer from "stupiditis" however so i ignored it.

  14. Yes a full risk assessment is required urgently and while your at it what if someone closed the sliding door whilst you were cooking sausages on the swing out cooker. Imagine the horror!

  20. on the plus side, you can use it to cut baguettes into small even slices....in the absence of a suitable cutting implement
