I'm thinking about replacing the twiddly fresh air vents on the ends of the dash with speakers so I'll have speakers in the front as well as the rear. Has anyone got suggestions of good speakers that will fit? I've found these but I don't really know much about speakers. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Micro-Dome-Audio-Tweeters-Speakers/dp/B00AKUHX3W
They are tweeters bob and will only play the very top of the audio frequency You will really struggle to find a full range speaker that small that will give a reasonable quality audio
It's in a noisy old campervan so I'm not expecting brilliant performance, just an extra bit of noise. To be honest one reason I want to replace the air vents with speakers is aesthetic. We've never used them and they'll look a bit tatty in my new powder coated dash.
I fitted tweeters, but under the metal tube so you still see the vents. You are looking for something to replace the plastic vents?
Find yourself a Fiat Cinquecento (not sure about the Siecento) in a scrappy and there are really small (about the diameter of a coffee mug) but loud enough speakers in the ends of the dash board, just take a pozidrive screwdriver with you to get them out.
Yes. I may still use the tube and block off the other end to make an enclosure, otherwise I'll remove it and use speakers to fill the holes in the dash.
I also have same vents on the bulkheads to the rear and fitted 3" speakers one side and the OG vents to hide them but TBH they are too small to be much use. One that sat on top of the hole and poked through would be even smaller I fear.
Yeah, there hasn't been a mad rush of people suggesting their favourite small speakers has there? Well, it's speakers or vases holding daffodils but flowers will need changing too often.
Yes there must be something that fits, I don't know if the mobile ones would work off a car stereo or if they'd still need to have batteries.
I know loads about car stereos. I really don't think you are going to get much out of vent speakers as they are not much bigger than tweeters. You will have them turned up so loud just to hear them, they will distort. Plus the metal dash will resonate and make the sound worse.
If you give me beer I'll sit on your dash and sing a bit. I don't know many songs but I'm a quick learner.
Theres nothing out there is there. If you mounted the speakers behind the vent aperture could you go up in diameter a bit, then trim the dash vents down to stop prying eyes and poky fingers. http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=ALPAIR7(A)C
